One of those ways is to sign up for the Amazon Mom program, which gets you 3 free months of an Amazon Prime membership–including Amazon Prime’s free 2-day shipping. You don’t have to be a full-time caregiver to join the Amazon Mom program–or even a mom–and Amazon doesn’t make you show proof.

Since my original article, I’ve discovered that once you sign up for the Amazon Mom program, you can earn up to an additional 9 months of free Amazon Prime 2-day shipping benefits.

Here’s How it Works:

If you haven’t done so already, sign up for Amazon’s Free Amazon Mom program. You’ll automatically get 3 free months of Amazon Prime 2-day shipping.

While you’re still enjoying the initial 3 free months of Amazon Prime shipping you earn just for joining the Amazon Mom program, place a single order for $25 or more of products from Amazon’s Baby Category. Each time you do this, Amazon will credit you with an additional free month of free Amazon Prime shipping–up to 9 additional months. To earn additional months, be sure to place your Baby orders before your free shipping benefits expire.

And You Can Buy More Than Just Baby Items!

What’s really great is that I’ve discovered some non-baby items also qualify toward earning Free Amazon Prime Shipping! So even if you’re NOT a full-time caregiver and don’t need to order baby wipes, bottles, formula, or similar items from Amazon on a regular basis, you can still extend your free Amazon Prime shipping benefits under the Amazon Mom program.

I’m fairly certain that Amazon never intended some of these products to qualify, because some are about 100 miles away from being a baby product–the Mini Indoor Helicopter, for example. Other items, such as Tupperware, are borderline, as they are often used for babies, but are also pretty useful for anyone.

How to Tell if an Item Qualifies Toward Extending Your Free Amazon Prime Shipping

You can identify items that qualify toward extending your Amazon Prime shipping benefits because Amazon will display  a banner across the top of the product details page, saying:

“Amazon Mom: Purchase this and other Baby items to extend your Amazon Prime FREE Shipping Benefits.”

For my readers’ benefit, I’m compiling a list of non-baby-related items that Amazon is currently crediting toward extending Amazon Prime shipping benefits under the Amazon Mom program. Just like the official baby-related items, you must purchase at least $25 worth of these items in a single order for Amazon to credit you for a free additional month of shipping.

These items are likely to change, since Amazon will eventually figure out that some of them may be miscategorized–so take advantage while it lasts!
