I’ve always loved movies.

As a kid with a few bucks to spend here and there–when VHS tapes were still the only consumer movie format available but DVDs were about to hit the market–I held back from purchasing VHS movies because I knew how much better DVDs were going to be. And I didn’t want to have to re-buy my movie collection once the new format hit the streets. So, I waited…and I’ve always been glad I did.

Now, 3D TVs have hit the market. Of course, I wanted to run right out and get one–but I managed to hold myself back. 🙂 Seriously, the reason I hit my pause button is that the first models of a new electronic device are always priced way higher than models with similar features a6 months to a year later. So why not wait and let the prices come down a bit? Plus, later models tend to be better quality, since the manufacturers will have time to get some of the bugs out. And, later models also tend to have more features.

So now that I’ve decided that my next TV will be a 3D TV, it’s just a question of when I’ll take the plunge and pick one out. My decision: I’ll buy a 3D TV to replace the tube TV I still have, whenever it finally dies. But in the meantime, all these great movies are coming out–so what’s a girl to do?

I’ve decided that, for any new movie releases that are available in a 3D format, I’ll buy them in 3D Blu-ray. (All of the recent Blu-ray films are actually being released on 3D Blu-ray–that’s the name of the technology.) This way, I won’t have wasted money buying my favorite movies on standard Blu-ray, only to re-purchase them later on in 3D Blu-ray.
