Tell D.C. School Administrators You Don’t Appreciate Child Abuse

by Nindo Mom on September 29, 2010

This is a follow-up to yesterday’s post.

If you missed it yesterday, here’s the link to WashingtonPost.com where you can hear Chancellor Rhee joking about how she taped all of her students’ mouths shut with masking tape, and how they all cried when they removed the tape and made their mouths bleed. And, you can hear the new teachers in the audience laughing about the incident:

Whether or not your child attends D.C. schools, let administrators know how you feel about this incident. Whenever we hear of children being treated this way, we must speak up–or our children (or grandchildren) could be next.

It’s up to us what kind of society we want to live in.

My intent in saying it’s up to us what kind of society we want to live in meant this–we can simply read about the news and shake our heads, or we can do something functional by speaking out. I am anything but lukewarm on the subject of child abuse in schools.
